Facial Recognition

Updated: Jan 3, 2019

Facial recognition is a biometric method of identifying an individual by comparing live capture or digital image data with the stored record of that person. The biometric technology used is based on physiological or behavioral characteristics (fingerprints, face, signature, DNA, iris, typing rhythms, etc) and provides convenient and secure authentication.

We see movie and television characters stand in front of a computer-like box as it scans their face. If the biometric technology recognizes their face, then the door is open, if not, that person is unable to enter through the door.

The same will be true for those trying to enter through the heavenly gates. God made each of us different and unique, not one person who ever walked the earth shared fingerprints, DNA, or any other physiological features. However, because of our ever-growing tolerance of sin our faces become unrecognizable. Just think about how the sin you’re in changes or distorts your heart. In Luke 13:27-30, Jesus talks about those that will be turned away when they stand at the door, “But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!’ (v27). It’s easy to see someone else’s sin, but what about the sin YOU are in? Will God recognize you? Will the door open when your face is scanned?
